24 Hour Endurance Ride on the Kew Boulevard

Ride Against Tacks – announcing the 2015 RAT Ride

On June 7, I and other concerned cyclists will be undertaking a 24 hour endurance ride on the Kew Boulevard.

The ride will commence at 7:00AM on Sunday June 7 and conclude at 7:00AM on Monday June 8.

The objectives for participants will be to travel 400KM and gain 9000 meters of elevation.

Participating cyclists will ride continuously, stopping only for meal breaks, bathroom breaks and to repair punctures caused by tacks.

The ride has four objectives:

1. To demonstrate that cowardly tack attacks will not deter Melbourne cyclists from using the Kew Boulevard.

2. To continue raising awareness of the tack attacks within the community of Boroondara and the broader community of Melbourne.

3. To continue pressuring Boroondara council and Vic Roads into acting on the remedies sought at the May 3 protest ride and in particular, the installation of surveillance cameras on the Kew Boulevard.

4. To simultaneously raise funds for the stricken victims of Nepal’s recent earth quake.

Riders will be supported throughout the ride by support crews who will facilitate the replacement of punctured wheels and repair punctures while riders continue.

Further details to follow.

Please make contact if you wish to participate or provide support during the event.
